What is the Keyboard CPS Test?

The Keyboard CPS Test measures how quickly you can press any key on your keyboard. Unlike the spacebar-only test, this measures overall key pressing speed in Keys Per Second (KPS).

Best Keyboards for Speed

Mechanical keyboards with linear switches (Cherry MX Red, Speed Silver) have shorter actuation points and no tactile bump, making them ideal for speed tests. Membrane keyboards typically have higher actuation force and longer travel, slowing you down.

Understanding Keyboard Input Latency

Your keyboard sends key presses to your PC at its polling rate (typically 125 Hz or 1000 Hz). Combined with switch debounce time and USB latency, total input delay ranges from 1ms to 30ms. Gaming keyboards minimize every component of this chain.
